Chef notes

Cute, comforting and delicious, these peanut buttery, chocolate kiss-topped cookies are always a hit. They are a timeless classic but also a touch nostalgic. Make them for birthdays, potlucks, parties, cookie swaps or any occasion that calls for a sweet treat baked with love.

You can use any flavor or style of chocolate kiss you like for this recipe. Chilling the dough balls in the fridge before baking helps them to keep their shape in the oven, making them the ideal size for "planting" the kiss. You'll need to work quickly when these cookies come out of the oven, as they have to be warm and soft when you add the kisses. Moving the cookies off the baking sheet first makes this step safer. That way, you won't have to worry about grazing your arm or hands on the hot pan as you press in each chocolate kiss.

Swap options: You can use tahini in place of the peanut butter (make sure to stir it well before measuring). You can also roll the dough balls in white sesame seeds instead of granulated sugar.
