Frederick W. Smith, Founder of FedEx, Dies at 80

Frederick W. Smith, the man behind FedEx who turned a college term paper about shipping packages nationwide into one of the most successful businesses in history, has died at 80. Smith served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, which included two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded both a Silver and Bronze Star along with two Purple Hearts. NBC’s Hallie Jackson remembers a life well lived on Sunday TODAY.
